Helping the Buddha’s teachings flourish
For more than 2,500 years, the Buddha’s teachings have been preserved through generations of teachers and practitioners who dedicated their lives to studying, practising and transmitting the Dharma.
Today, that living tradition continues.
Through Support the Sangha & Share the Dharma, Tibetan Sakya Trust seeks to support those who preserve and transmit authentic Buddhist teachings while helping make the Dharma available to people throughout the world.
By supporting the Sangha and the sharing of Dharma, we help ensure that these precious teachings continue to benefit generations to come.
SUPPORTING THE SANGHA
The Sangha has played an essential role in preserving Buddhism for centuries.
Monks and nuns devote their lives to study, meditation, practice and service, maintaining traditions and teachings that have been passed from teacher to student across generations.
Our support may help provide:
Monastic Education
Supporting monks and nuns in their study of Buddhist philosophy, scripture, ritual and meditation.
Daily Needs
Helping provide food, robes, accommodation and other necessities for monastic communities.
Health & Wellbeing
Supporting appropriate healthcare and welfare needs within the Sangha.
Monasteries & Dharma Centres
Helping maintain places where Buddhist teachings are studied, practised and transmitted.
Teachers & Practitioners
Supporting those who dedicate their lives to preserving and sharing authentic Dharma.
SHARING THE DHARMA
The Dharma can only continue to benefit people when it is taught, practised and shared.
Tibetan Sakya Trust seeks to help create opportunities for people to encounter authentic Buddhist teachings and deepen their understanding and practice.
This may include supporting:
Buddhist Teachings
Creating opportunities to receive teachings from qualified teachers.
Visiting Teachers
Helping Buddhist teachers travel to communities where people wish to receive teachings and guidance.
Retreats & Practice
Supporting opportunities for meditation, retreat and deeper spiritual practice.
Translation & Publication
Helping teachings cross barriers of language and geography through translation, books and other resources.
Digital Dharma
Using modern technology to record, preserve and share teachings with people around the world.
MAKING THE DHARMA ACCESSIBLE
Financial circumstances should not unnecessarily prevent someone from encountering the Buddha’s teachings.
Where possible, we hope to help make teachings, meditation and Dharma resources accessible to those who sincerely wish to learn.
Technology also allows teachings once available only within monasteries or distant communities to reach people across the world.
A teaching recorded today may benefit someone thousands of miles away — or someone who encounters it many years from now.
PRESERVING THE SAKYA LINEAGE
Tibetan Sakya Trust has its roots within the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, one of Tibet’s major Buddhist traditions.
For centuries, the Sakya lineage has preserved profound teachings of Buddhist philosophy, meditation and practice through an unbroken tradition of transmission from teacher to student.
Supporting qualified teachers, practitioners, monasteries and educational institutions helps ensure that this living lineage continues to flourish.
What has been carefully preserved for generations can then be passed forward to those who come after us.
A LIVING TRANSMISSION
The Dharma is more than something written in a book.
It lives through practice.
A teacher shares what they have received from their teachers. A student puts those teachings into practice. In time, another generation receives them.
In this way, wisdom has travelled across centuries.
By supporting the people and places that make this transmission possible, we become part of that continuing story.
THE GIFT OF DHARMA
The Buddha taught generosity as a fundamental part of the path.
Supporting the Sangha and helping make Dharma available to others allows one act of generosity to continue benefiting people far beyond the original gift.
A donation might help a monk continue their studies.
It might help a teacher travel to give teachings.
It might allow a teaching to be translated, recorded or shared.
And through that teaching, countless others may eventually benefit.
