COMPASSION IN ACTION
Turning compassion into meaningful help
Compassion is at the heart of the Buddha’s teachings. It is the sincere wish for beings to be free from suffering — and the willingness to act when help is needed.
Through Compassion in Action, Tibetan Sakya Trust seeks to transform that principle into practical support for people, families, communities and animals facing hardship.
Whether responding to poverty, illness, disability, isolation or unexpected crisis, our aim is simple: to relieve suffering with kindness, dignity and compassion.
HELPING THOSE IN NEED
Life can change quickly. Illness, financial hardship, disability or difficult circumstances can leave people struggling to meet even their most basic needs.
Through our charitable activities, we seek to support those who need a helping hand.
This may include assistance for:
Children & Families
Helping children and families facing poverty, disadvantage or difficult circumstances.
Older People
Supporting older people experiencing hardship, vulnerability or isolation.
People with Disabilities
Helping improve wellbeing, independence and quality of life for people living with disabilities.
Poverty & Hardship
Providing practical assistance to people struggling with essential needs such as food, clothing and other necessities.
Health & Wellbeing
Supporting charitable initiatives that improve access to care and promote the wellbeing of people experiencing hardship.
Emergency Relief
Responding when individuals or communities face unforeseen circumstances and urgent assistance is needed.
COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS
The Buddhist path teaches us to extend compassion to all sentient beings.
Animals experience fear, pain, hunger and suffering just as we do. Compassion in Action therefore also seeks opportunities to support appropriate animal welfare initiatives, helping animals receive the food, shelter, protection and care they need.
Our compassion should have no boundary.
COMPASSION WITHOUT BORDERS
Although Tibetan Sakya Trust has deep roots in the Buddhist tradition, compassion belongs to everyone.
Our charitable work is undertaken for the benefit of people regardless of their background, beliefs or circumstances.
Wherever suffering exists and the Trust is able to make a meaningful difference within its charitable purposes, we aspire to respond with wisdom and compassion.
FROM GENEROSITY TO ACTION
Every donation represents an act of kindness.
One gift might help provide essential supplies. Another might contribute towards care for someone experiencing hardship. Together, many individual acts of generosity can enable much greater change.
As Compassion in Action grows, we hope to support both immediate needs and carefully chosen projects capable of creating lasting benefit.
THE BUDDHIST PRACTICE OF GIVING
Generosity, or dāna, is one of the foundational practices of Buddhism.
Giving is not measured simply by the size of a donation. It begins with the intention to benefit another being.
A small gift offered with compassion can therefore carry profound meaning.
Through giving, we help another while cultivating generosity and compassion within ourselves.
